Every day in the medical profession is an opportunity to learn something. But some days leave an impression on our lives that can never be forgotten. Today was one such day—I was working in the Diabetes and Hypertension Care Unit. Working in this unit is as challenging as it is an incredible opportunity to learn.
The unit was very busy since morning. Today, I had an experienced and kind lady on duty, who explained the work to me from the beginning. She not only gave instructions, but also answered every question with a smile. She showed me how to deal with a patient and take a patient's history as a doctor.
A remarkable combination of patience and guidance under pressure from the patient
Despite the pressure and hustle and bustle of waiting outside, Madam was calm and organized. She taught me step by step how to see patients and after a while she gave me sole responsibility. I was seeing patients myself and prescribing medicines, which was a great experience for me.
He advised me to take my time and build a career as a doctor. His guidance on how to become a competent and humane doctor was truly invaluable.
“You sit in my chair”—a symbol of trust and encouragement
The most special moment of the day was when Madam said:
"Doctor Jahara, you sit in my chair and see the patient, I'll be right back."
